Does anyone else rehearse a phone call before making it, and then get annoyed when the other person does not follow the script?

Is it normal to rehearse a phone call before making it? I have a script. It never survives the second sentence.

Is it normal to feel closer to a book than to most people? I am asking honestly, not to be interesting.
